Namaste Tribe! Yesterday, around midnight (IST), a bunch of hackers hacked the Twitter accounts of many popular public figures including people from the cryptocurrency community. In the attack, the hackers posted links to donate/send money with a promise to double it from those Twitter accounts.
This is a good time for the community to learn from this incident and be more cautious. Here are some common scams run on social media:
Giveaways promising 10x returns: You might see some accounts running similar social media giveaways that require you to first send your own money. The posts might also come from accounts that might look identical to the ones you know and love, but this is part of the trick. Please never send your crypto ever to anyone claiming they will help you earn more, or will give you 10x of the crypto you send. No legitimate giveaway would ever ask you to send funds first.
Giveaways with suspicious links: You might also see some accounts running similar social media giveaways that require you to click on suspicious links and requesting you to send your own money. Please don’t fall for it.
Please be careful to not fall for such scams. Stay safe!
