Auto Margin Top-up is a feature that automatically adds margin to your Futures position from your available Futures Wallet balance when additional margin is required. It helps manage your positions and reduce the risk of liquidation.
How Does Auto Margin Top-up Work in Futures Trading?
| No. | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | You open a Futures position and enable Auto Margin Top-up. |
| 2 | If your position requires additional margin, the system checks your available Futures Wallet balance. |
| 3 | If sufficient funds are available, the required margin is automatically added to your position. |
| 4 | If your wallet has insufficient funds, the top-up will not be completed, and your position may still be at risk of liquidation. |
How to Enable Auto Margin Top-up on WazirX?
You can enable Auto Margin Top-up at the global level or for an individual Futures position.
| Setting | What You Need to Know |
|---|---|
| Global Level | Enable Auto Margin Top-up in Settings. The setting will automatically apply to new Futures positions opened after it is enabled. |
| Position Level | Enable or disable Auto Margin Top-up for a specific Futures position. This setting takes priority over the global setting for that position. |
How Is the Auto Margin Top-up Amount Calculated?
The Auto Margin Top-up amount depends on your position's maintenance margin and selected leverage.
| Leverage | Auto Top-up Amount |
|---|---|
| 1x to 20x | 1.5 times the maintenance margin. |
| 21x to 150x | 2 times the maintenance margin. |
What Happens If Your Futures Wallet Has Insufficient Balance?
If your Futures Wallet does not have sufficient available balance, the Auto Margin Top-up will fail, and the feature will be automatically disabled for that position.
To enable it again, follow these steps:
| No. | What You Need to Do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Add sufficient INR to your Futures Wallet. |
| 2 | Manually enable Auto Margin Top-up again for the affected position. |
Important: Auto Margin Top-up may help reduce liquidation risk, but it does not guarantee protection against liquidation or losses. The feature requires sufficient available funds in your Futures Wallet, and adding more margin increases the amount exposed to market risk. Always monitor your positions and manage your risk carefully.
